FUTURELIFE® BEAUTI FOOD™- THE EXTRAS
Plant based omega- 3 fatty acids
Cardiovascular disease (diseases involving the heart, like high blood pressure) has become more common in recent years. Omega-3 fatty acids are often used in the prevention of cardiovascular disease both taken as an oral supplement (like an omega 3 capsule) or by increasing your total dietary omega 3 consumption. Historically, increasing omega 3 consumption has been focused around consuming more fatty fish, like salmon. Evidence also suggests that increasing your alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), an omega 3 fatty acid found in plant sources is associated with improved cardiac markers. An increase in ALA either through supplementation or by increasing your consumption of foods high in ALA and reducing your consumption of omega 6 fatty acids can improve your heart health and lipid profile1.
FUTURELIFE® BEAUTI FOOD™ Nutritional Shake and FUTURELIFE® BEAUTI FOOD™ Protein Bar contains micronized soy (improves the soy oil availability), a high-quality soy protein, which is a good source of ALA-plant based omega 3 fatty acid. One, 55g FUTURELIFE® BEAUTI FOOD™ Nutritional Shake contains 241mg of omega 3 fatty acids (ALA), helping you reach your required daily omega 3 fatty acid intake.
Dietary fibre
Dietary fibre is commonly defined as carbohydrates that are in a non-digestible form. Fibre mostly comes from fruits, vegetables, cereals, and whole grains. The commonly known benefits of fibre intake are vast and include creating a healthy gut microbiome, reducing your risk for the development of cardiovascular disease, like high blood pressure and the prevention of constipation2.
Fibre’s most common function is assisting in the prevention of constipation. It may also assist with weight loss by making you feel fuller for longer resulting in less frequent eating patterns.
Our gut is home to around 100 trillion microbes. As more research is done, it has been found that a diverse gut microflora, aids in immune development, metabolic pathways and can even assist in the regulation of emotional and mental functioning. Fibre directly and positively influences our gut microflora2.
Yes, I know what you are thinking, fibre sounds amazing but how much fibre do I need? The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) recommends that adults need between 25 and 30g of fibre per day. Including dietary fibre into your diet is important but not always easy.
One, 55g FUTURELIFE® BEAUTI FOOD™ Nutritional Shake contains 55% of you require fibre for the day! Making it easier to reach that daily fibre goal.
Inulin, as a prebiotic
In the previous paragraph we investigated fibre’s role in the gut. But fibre does not work alone. Inulin is classified as a prebiotic. A prebiotic is loosely defined as an undigested food ingredient that stimulates the growth of the good bacteria in our colon. Prebiotics help with the absorption of calcium, a vital mineral for bone health that can assist in the prevention and treatment of constipation, prevent certain infections, and reduce the risk of colorectal cancer.4
FUTURELIFE® BEAUTI FOOD™ Nutritional Shake is an easy and convenient way to obtain the gut benefits of a prebiotic and fibre.
High in 18 vitamins and minerals
Antioxidants (Vitamin A, C & E, Selenium, Zinc)
I am sure you have heard of antioxidants at some point. But what do antioxidants do? Our bodies produce unstable molecules that can sometimes accumulate. These molecules are called reactive oxygen species. When these molecules and antioxidants are unbalanced, it can cause damage to our bodies, including inflammation (like certain diseases) and skin aging. Exposure to UV light (the sun gives off the most UV radiation) creates more of these unstable molecules leading to accelerated degeneration of the skin5.
Antioxidants help protect our skin from these unstable molecules. Like most things, including collagen, our antioxidant system decreases as we age. Consuming foods high in antioxidants can play a vital role in protection against these unstable molecules5.
Vitamin B complex
Vitamin B complex includes vitamin B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B9 and B12. These vitamins play a key role in optimal brain and body function. Consuming insufficient amounts of B vitamins can lead to cell damage and in turn disease. Consuming insufficient amounts of vitamin B12 can lead to anaemia as well as problems in the nervous system (like numbness and weak muscles). B vitamins play an extremely important role in keeping our brain healthy (in healthy adults) and play an important role in the prevention of certain diseases (diseases related to the heart, nervous system, and the brain)6.
Calcium
Calcium is one of the most abundant elements in the human body. It has a key function in normal development, growth, and bone strength. Not only is calcium vital for our skeletal system (bones), but it also plays a vital role in muscle contractions7.
Each 55g FUTURELIFE® BEAUTI FOOD™ Nutritional Shake contains 55% of you require antioxidants. This includes vitamin A, vitamin C vitamin E, selenium, and zinc. It also contains 55% of your required B vitamins and is a source of calcium.
CONCLUSION
When it comes to living a healthy lifestyle and reducing the risk of aging and disease, it is important to follow a balanced diet. We cannot just focus on one element but rather our diet as a whole and the benefits of a healthy balanced diet. FUTURELIFE® BEAUTI FOOD™ Nutritional Shake can be used as a meal supplement to ensure that you reach your required intake of vitamins, minerals, omega 3 fatty acids and fibre.
